We are developing a Forest School program to give children the unique opportunity of experiencing play and learning in a controlled outdoor environment. Forest School is the name for an approach to educating children in the outdoors on a regular basis. This work will have a strong emphasis on raising children’s confidence and independence and developing the children’s awareness and understanding of the outdoors.
An integral part of the Forest School experience is that children will be outdoors in all weathers. To help achieve this, your child will need suitable old trousers, a warm coat and a pair of wellington boots or old shoes. Please send these to school in a named bag on Thursday 24 and 31 January and 7 and 14 February so that they can change into this for the afternoon. Please bear in mind that your child could possibly get muddy!
The sessions will be led by Mrs Atkinson who has completed training. During the sessions, the children will, at an appropriate level, have opportunities to build dens and light a small campfire.
If you have a queries about our Forest School sessions, please contact Mrs Atkinson or myself.
We are all looking forward to starting our new learning venture and are sure it will be an exciting time for your child.
